Numbering Plan for the Cellular Mobile Network
Each licensed mobile service is provided with an allotted number of
- MSC (Mobile Switching Centre) Code
- SP (signalling point) Code
- MNC (Mobile Country Code)
- And one more code is for identifying countries internationally, which is MCC (mobile country code). One unique MCC is allocated to a country.
Above the MSC Code alone comes the numbering plan (i.e., the Number). The remaining SP Code and MCC are only used by the network.
The cellular mobile network is divided into 19 service areas and four metropolitan cities for which licenses have been granted. Accordingly, a numbering plan was formulated for the allotment of an MSC code to each operator, with spare codes for future allotment.
